The sound of drumming, silenced!

It's nice to know someone missed me! We had a nice anniversary. We weren't able to go on a trip this year. We found fun things to do and spent a lot of quality time together. On Friday night we ate pizza by candle and firelight, watched a movie and then fell asleep next to the cozy warm fire. On Saturday afternoon we drove to Shipshewana, IN. The drive was pretty. We decided to visit a park there (actually in Topeka)called The David Rogers Memorial Park. It was fun! It might not seem like anything special but we're history geeks. We were able to actually go inside of all the buildings on the property. We explored the park for about half an hour then decided to head back to town. We decided it would be fun to take an Amish horse and buggy ride. I don't have any pics of that because the tour guide says you're not supposed to ask Amish people to pose for photos. It was a great time! The driver extended our tour even though we only paid for the short one. He was very nice and answered all our (there was girl who took the tour with us) questions. He even took us to his mother and father's house. They actually weren't home but he used the spare key and gave us the grand tour. It did feel a bit strange being in someone's home while they were away. All in all it was pretty fun. My mom was really jealous. She really likes the novelty of Amish culture and reads every novel Beverly Lewis writes. I know it's not very nice but part of me couldn't wait to get home and say "guess what I got to do!"

A Baby Shower Cake

My sister asked me to make the cake for her baby shower. (Today) I didn't want to post the pics before the shower in case she read my blog. I wanted it to be a surprise. So here it is making it's pictorial debut.....Baby Shower Cake. I was very displeased with my icing on this one. It was just IMPOSSIBLE to smooth. I think it may have been too thick.

Funnies For Friday

A Belated Birthday Celebration

My parents took us out to dinner this evening in celebration of my birthday. Yes, yes I know my birthday was a month and 3 days ago but they had a busy tour schedule. I had a great time. Some time ago I had asked my step-mom ( or my fake mom as she refers to herself) for copies of two pictures I found in her office. She was so sweet to insert them in my birthday card tonight. We laughed and ate really yummy food (Golden Corral). I love buffets!

P.S.
I'll post the pics on our photo blog.

The Blonde Goes Ice Fishing

~I'd heard this one before but someone sent it to me again recently, so I decided to share!~

A blonde wanted to go ice fishing. She'd seen many books on the subject and finally getting all the necessary tools together, she headed for the ice. After positioning her comfy footstool, she started to make a circular cut in the ice. Suddenly, from the sky, a voice boomed, "THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE."
Startled, the blonde moved further down the ice, poured a thermos of cappuccino, and began to cut yet another hole. Again from the heaven the voice bellowed, "THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE."
The blonde, now worried, moved away, clear down to the opposite end of the ice. She set up her stool once more and tried again to cut her hole. The voice came once more, "THERE ARE NO FISH UNDER THE ICE." She stopped, looked skyward, and said, "IS THAT YOU LORD?" The voice replied, "NO, THIS IS THE MANAGER OF THE HOCKEY RINK."
