It's soooo...Elementary...School!

Updated With Vines

Gosh! Sometimes I think I should give up this cake thing or go to school for it. Have you ever been so put off and compelled by something at the same time??? It's like I can't quit it! I am ranting a bit but I swear it's honest. I feel like every cake just gets worse, like it could have been decorated by a grade school student. (No offense to students) So anyway my bil asked me to make a cake for my mil's b-day. I had NO idea what to do. Her kitchen is decorated in a grape motif and she grows grapes, so I guess that's where my mind went.

You are too hard on yourself, everyone is there own worst credict. The cake is still very pretty. Plus, I bet it tastes wonderful!! And you can't stop making cakes, I still need you to make them. :-)

Nobody achieves true stardom overnight!! You obviously have a talent, most people could never do as well as you have done! Maybe taking some classes on cake decorating will inspire you, and possibly give you more confidence in yourself. Don't be too hard on yourself, I ruined two batches of cookies the other night and burnt my finger on the cookie sheet. I felt like the biggest 'mom' loser ~ I SCREWED UP COOKIES!!!! how does someone screw up cookies? TWO BATCHES!!! Believe me you're doing a great job.

Brandee, she'll LOVE it! Are you kidding? Moms *love* anything that their kids make. She'll *really* appreciate the thought and effort that went into it, too. Are you guys having a party for Sybil or anything? We sent her gift ~ she should get it on the 16th, hopefully. So what flavor is the cake? Grape? :)

Thanks guys you're sweet. I added litte green vines to the grapes, I guess that made me feel a little better. I'll post the update pic. I thought about making the cake grape flavored(hehee)but I wasn't sure if it would be good. It's actually milk chocolate with mocha whip cream filling.

I love it! Can't wait to taste it today! By the way..... there are lots of places around town that offer cake decorating classes..... maybe we could sign up together. I've always wanted to learn how to decorate with something other than sprinkles.

I think the cake looks lovely and delicious. I couldn't decorate a cake to look half as good as that. I hope your MIL enjoyed it!
